Every family photographer runs their business differently, especially in how they determine the locations for their family photo sessions. The location that is chosen plays a huge part in the quality of your photos and the overall enjoyment of your session. So the locations I offer to my clients is a way I provide custom and unique sessions to my clients.
After you have booked a session with me I will get information from you about what you are like as a family and the look/style that you want from your photos, to help determine the type of location that would fit your family best. I’ll give you a list of different options as well if you aren’t sure what you might like. I take quite a lot of things into consideration when choosing a location for you. Such as time of year, age of your children, walking access, parking, safety concerns, overcrowding, permits needed, and then lots of artistic considerations such as direction of light, if horizon lines are obstructed, framing aids from nature and/or architecture, and the variety of backdrops I can get from a short walking distance.
I also pride myself in offering a large range of options, including private spaces such as at farms I rent for the session, as well as many indoor locations. Last year I opened my unique Greenhouse Studio and urban garden that I decorate not only for every season but specially for every session. It’s a magical place for photos. With my ever growing list of locations it allows families come back year after year for photos and get a completely different look and vibe.
Check out this summer family session at Whetstone Park of Roses in Clintonville Ohio. This park can get busy on the weekends, but it has so much variety in one park area such as gardens, woods, creeks, and fields. I love all the adorable sibling photos from this session.
