I’ve done many one year milestone/birthday portraits and I love how they are all so very different from one another. I love working with parents to create a truly unique session that will make their photos feel authentic to them and create a memorable experience.
Location is the main way to create a unique session that feels like your family. I have done One Year Sessions at the park, in an urban location, at a baseball diamond, at the library, at a creek, in a studio, and a the family’s home. What fun location would you like to do?!

The second way I create a customized session just for your needs is giving you options on what type of photos you want done. There are 3 types of photos I can plan for your One Year Milestone Session:
1. Baby Styled Portraits
2. Family Portraits with Lifestyle photos of baby
3. Cake Smash Photos
You can choose one , two, or all three types of sessions. Most families choose Styled Baby Portraits and then also Family Portraits. But more have been adding cake smash photos in the last year. Go HERE to learn more about how I plan cake smash sessions.
For this sweet little girl’s session the weather was cold and yucky so we chose a studio space that would allow their dogs. When I do studio portraits I love to keep the backdrop very clean and simple while using natural light for a slightly vintage look. I adore the profile photo of her in black & white. The parents are having this made into a canvas along with one of the color portraits. As Mom was packing up to leave she said “I’m so glad we did this”. You’ll never regret having family photos done. Especially when they embody who you are as a family.

Nursing photos can be added-on to your session too!
And then we party down and end the session with cake!
